3G S Nearest Tube app on the horizon

A London Underground station finder app called Nearest Tube is one of the first to use the 3G S for an augmented reality app

Nearest Tube, an app that makes use of the iPhone 3G S's GPS, camera and digital compass is all set to hit the iTunes app store in the near future.
The Nearest Tube app points Londoners in the direction of the nearest underground station, but rather than do it in a traditionally dreary 2D fashion, creator Acrossair has produced something far more engaging.
With the handset in its flat, face-up position the app loads and shows all 13 tube lines in London, if you then move the handset to a vertical position the information is overlaid on the video view of your surrounding area, with further stations stacked vertically in the distance.
Nearest Tube currently only supports the London Underground, and works only on the iPhone 3G S, and as the clip below warns - don't use it near any magnets.
There's 48 seconds of Nearest Tube in action below, and we have to say, we like what we're seeing. It was only a matter of time before apps that truly merge the 3 components of camera/video, GPS and digital compass began to trickle onto the market, and the sooner Apple approves this one the better, we say.
You can find out more about the acrossair range of apps at the official homepage.
