HTC invitation suggests new device

HTC has sent out invitations to a launch party on the 24th June, suggesting a new smartphone is on the horizon.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of the Samsung Unpacked launch that will see a new device launched on the 15th June.

HTC is keeping the details pretty close to its chest but we're thinking that this is more than likely to be the official unveiling of the Hero handset.

If we're right it will be the first public outing of the much-snapped device but who knows if they will be heading it up with the pink model that has seemed to feature in most of the leaks up until now.

We brought you a promo video yesterday from which we learned that wannabe Hero owners will be able to have their pick from a choice of seven different coloured handsets.

There's obviously no confirmation that this particular HTC event is to announce the Hero but its timing would seem about right given the frequency of the “leaks” recently and perhaps draw some attention back from the anticipated iPhone 3.0 announcement.
