Orange secures HTC Hero as exclusive

Orange has hinted that it will have a network exclusive with the Google Android-based HTC Hero

Published on May 27, 2009

The HTC Hero will be arriving exclusively on the Orange network for the UK market according to internet reports.

The Hero will be the third Android-powered handset to make it onto our shelves if it arrives on schedule and in line with the US release date of August 2009.

Official information hasn't been forthcoming thus far, but the handset was first leaked a while back on a Chinese forum and then picked up by CodeAndroid.com.

We don't have the full picture on the specs just yet but from what we know so far the Hero will be arriving with a 3-megapixel snapper, 3G connectivity, Bluetooth and no doubt a whole lot more HTC Android goodness.

There's no official word on pricing or release just yet, but we think that with the Vodafone Magic as the only current contender to the T-Mobile G1, the rumoured August release date might not be too far off the mark.
