O2 has claimed that webOS-toting Palm Pre will be available exclusively on its network in the UK

O2 will be selling the Palm Pre exclusively on its network, the Guardian has claimed.
The report reveals that the long-awaited Pre launch will be a strictly O2 affair in the UK, which confirms suspicions we had earlier when reports surfaced claiming that the handset will be an exclusive to Telefonica in other European territories.
Those waiting for the 3-megapixel, 3.1-inch touchscreen Palm Pre to hit haven't got long to wait, with it launching on Sprint in the US on 6th June.
The Pre will be the first Palm handset to showcase the new webOS operating system but whether it can tempt people away from the allure of the gentle glowing of the new iPhone remains to be seen.
If the Pre does come as an O2 exclusive it will come as a double blow to its rival operators given the runaway success of th lucrative iPhone deal.
