Nokia launches low-end 2730, 2720 and 7020

Nokia has announced the 2730, 2720 and 7020, aimed at emerging markets

Nokia has announced the 2730 Classic, 2720 Fold and 7020, deigned for emerging markets where people may not be able to access the internet on a PC.

The Nokia 2730 Classic, Nokia 2720 Fold and Nokia 7020 each come internet-ready, and work with Nokia's range of emerging market services such as Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail, creating solutions that help people get ahead.

Recently Nokia found that almost half of customers in emerging markets would rather access the internet on a mobile than a PC - so Nokia has tailored these handsets to satisfy the needs of the customer in new markets.

Alex Lambeek, Vice President at Nokia, said: "We've seen mobile technologies catalyse the growth of the informal sector across the world, empowering local entrepreneurs and having an immediate and lasting impact on people's lives.

He added: "Services like Nokia Life Tools and Ovi Mail, combined with the mobile phones we're launching today, bring powerful solutions that can be the gateway to knowledge, entertainment and people, without the need for a PC."

The Nokia 2730 classic is Nokia's most affordable 3G phone offering faster access to the internet and a richer browsing experience - it's competitively priced and equipped at 80 Euros (£70) - the Nokia 2730 classic is expected to start shipping in the third quarter of 2009.

The Nokia 2720 fold is a compact fold phone with a mirror-effect design, apparently helping people stay organised with easy access to email, calendar, internet connectivity and file sharing applications - the Nokia 2720 is priced at 55 Euros (£48) and will ship at the end of 2009.

And finally, the Nokia 7020 is a fashion phone that is made up of funky colours and boasts a 2-megapixel camera - the Nokia 7020 is expected to being shipping in the fourth quarter of 2009 for an estimated retail price of 90 Euros (£80).
