The LG Viewty Smart will be available to buy shortly and claims to be the most portable 8-megapixel phone yet

The 8-megapixel LG Viewty Smart GC900 its on its way to retailers now, and will be available to buy later in May.
Following on from the 7 million-selling Viewty, the Viewty Smart offers a much-improved camera. Other than just an increased megapixel figure, the Smart also features Intelligent Shot Mode. This analyses whatever you’re trying to take a picture of and changes the camera’s settings accordingly.
Dr. Skott Ahn, LG’s CEO says that the company is continuing to provide ‘revolutionary camera phones that set market benchmarks as the original Viewty did’ with the new Viewty Smart.
It’ll be the slimmest 8-megapixel released so far, at just 12.4mm thick, but LG is keen to stress that the user experience is just as important as the phone’s megapixel count and ergonomics. It uses the 3D interface we’ve already seen onboard the LG Arena, a phone we’re big fans of. With a similar 800x480, 3-inch screen, the Viewty Smart should be up to the task of watching videos on the go too, and it can also record video at DVD quality.
LG has plans to trump the Viewty Smart’s specs within the year, with a 12-megapixel handset, but for now, the Viewty Smart is looking good from where we're standing.
