Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia has announced the launch of its own mobile app store next month, as revealed during the company's Developers Summit in Monte Carlo.
The Ovi Store will be expected to compete with the hugely popular Apple store, with Nokia confirming that thousands of apps will be available to customers upon its forthcoming release.
A Nokia representative was confident about the long-term success of the Ovi store and said, "We have extraordinary global reach and scale. And we enable developers to take what they know and build what they want."
Nokia will be hoping to taste success similar to its main competitors, Apple, whose own app store recently surpassed its one billionth download.
