The BBC has launched a LiveTV/Radio beta service to owners of some Wi-Fi enabled handsets
Published on Apr 8, 2009
The BBC is now providing a live streaming TV and radio service to some mobile users which, in their own words, encompasses “a wide range of handsets”.
Currently still in beta form the service includes BBC1,2,3 & 4, BBC News, BBC Parliament, and a couple of children's channels too with CBBC and CBeebies.
Audio-only offerings include:
- Radio One
- Radio Two
- Radio Three
- Radio Four
- Radio Six
- Radio Seven
- One Extra
- BBC Asian Network
The service is free but the LiveTV FAQ page over at the BBC site states in several places that a full colour TV licence must be obtained before using it.
There's no option of streaming it over 3G yet but the Beeb says that it's working on it, as well as adding compatibility for even more handsets.
To find out more head to the FAQ page or jump straight in and go directly to the service from the Wi-Fi connection on your handset.
