The HTC Magic that Vodafone's official site had been touting for arrival this month has apparently suffered a slight delay.
The reports indicate that the new release date for the eagerly anticipated second Android handset will be the 1st May.
The source of the delay was revealed in a short statement to the UK-based technology site Pocket-Lint.com “We are delighted with the interest that the HTC Magic has received since its launch with Vodafone at Mobile World Congress 2009. We are confident that Vodafone’s customers will be delighted with the HTC Magic in spite of a short delay due to a last minute hardware change”, HTC said.
Quite what the alterations are remains to be seen and HTC are apparently keeping tight lipped beyond this official statement.
The Android handset is causing quite a stir with its 3.2-megapixel camera, 3.2-inch touchscreen display and open-source OS. On board the internet-oriented Magic is high-speed 3G connectivity as well as Wi-Fi.
The device is yet to be officially confirmed for release on any other UK networks so it's difficult to say whether Vodafone's delay is operator specific.
