Sony Ericsson launches the T707, with Maria Sharapova heading up the marketing campaign
Published on Mar 26, 2009
Sony Ericsson has teamed up with tennis star Maria Sharapova to emphasise the ‘sleek and elegant qualities’ of the T707, its latest clamshell handset which will be available from the start of April.
Sony Ericsson is especially proud of the gesture control feature of the T707 which allows you to reject calls with a wave of your hand over the screen, or silence the alarm.
Last month the T707 was described as ‘boring’ on several internet forums after picture and specifications were leaked. The T707 was mainly touted at the time as ‘the non-Walkman version of the Sony Ericsson W508’.
But Sharapova is determined that this is no dull handset. The T707 has ‘eye-catching’ light effects that can be customised for certain callers, she tells us, and boasts day and night themes. The phone can also be used to pick up emails and specs include HSDPA, a 3.2 megapixel camera and Bluetooth with A2DP support for stereo headsets and the usual Sony Ericsson's storied multimedia functions.
Although pricing has yet to be announced, Sony Ericsson has revealed that the handset will come in three colours; Mysterious Black, Spring Rose and Lucid Blue.
