YouTube has released a new mobile application for Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 users.
Previous mobile access to YouTube was clunky and slow as it was through a limited interface which linked to the on-device media player for playback.
The new version runs a lot quicker taking a split-seconds to load and aims to provide easier search functions.
The standard home screen, that adapts to the phone screen size, displays a search bar, one featured video, and links to the top rated, most viewed and most recent videos. Search results are displayed as thumbnails in a horizontal ticker, making them easier to scroll through.
Some users have reported having to change their country to get the download link to appear and there are no account-related features, so you can't comment on videos or check favourites.
It's available for Windows Mobile and most Symbian S60 third-edition handsets and needs to be downloaded through m.youtube.com into Internet Explorer.
