Samsung Mobile has launched Samsung Movies, its first dedicated movie store.
Currently the new Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition is the only phone that can support the downloads but there are also plans to expand this service to notebooks, mp3 and mp4 players and Samsung TVs.
Over 500 blockbusters such as The Dark Knight, RocknRolla and Ironman and hit TV series, including Gossip Girl, E.R. and Friends, are available for download.
The Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition has a 2.8-inch Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) full touchscreen, and boasts four hours and 20 minutes of continuous movie viewing on a full charge. Additional devices will be compatible with the Samsung Movies store as they come to market in 2009.
By the end of the first quarter of 2009 a further 500 titles will be added, followed by an additional 1,000 movies and TV shows by the end of June 2009. The films will start from £2.49 for 24 hour rental or from £4.99 to own.
