T-Mobile launches push email service

T-Mobile's new web push service lets you keep track of your webmail accounts like Gmail and Hotmail on your phone without even having web access

T-Mobile has just launched a push email service that'll send you an alert whenever you receive a message from up to five personal email accounts, including favourites like Hotmail and Gmail. You'll be able to check the mails themselves too.
Of course, you can do this with just about any phone if you're connected to WAP, but this service means you won't need to be connected to the internet at all. Of course, were this service to be free it'd likely take away a substantial chunk of T-Mobile's data revenues.
You do get a single free trial month of the service but after that you'll have to pay £3.50 a month, which will be added to your usual monthly contract payments. We can see this being a service many new subscribers will reject outright, but it should be of interest to those that predominantly use WAP to check their emails.
The service will only be availble on selected Nokia handsets to start with, but T-Mobile plans to extend the service to more devices in the future.
