Rumours have popped up that suggest the LG Touch Watch Phone will cost a staggering £1000.

The watch phone will be available exclusively on the Orange network across Europe. Of course, because of contract subsidies, it'll be unlikely you'll have to fork out the full grand to get the phone on your wrist, but it will probably come with a hefty premium even when bought on a high cost tariff.

Considering the watch phone concept was a niche idea at the outset, we have to wonder whether this sky-high price tag has narrowed this already small audience to the extent that it will become a sideshow event, destined to be sniggered at by passers-by who'll wonder at who in their right mind would actually buy the thing.

We don't want to put more of a downer on a handset, or should that be wristset, that we'd actually like to get more of a look at, but its phone capabilities are dimmed somewhat by the fact that you'll have to wear a headset whenever you want to make a call. It remains a more sensible solution than getting you to shout into your wrist, mind.
