LG to demonstrate the world's first LTE-enabled device at Mobile World Congress

LG will be showcasing the world's first data card using 3GPP Long Term Evolution on Wednesday at the Barcelona showcase.
The modem chip in the card is the most crucial component to create a viable 4G handset and is emerging as the favourite to be the standard platform.
LTE can theoretically support download speeds of 100Mbps and uploads of half that, blowing Vodafone's 20Mbps 3G out of the water. The demonstration will feature LG's device that boasts downloads of 60Mbps and uploads of 20Mbps, alongside three others to demonstrate its speed.
LG said that they will be the best-positioned company to take advantage of 4G when it rolls out next year. The new technology makes the viability of watching HD movies and downloading music on-the-fly an imminent possibility on a handheld device.
