Samsung's I740 projector phone has been launched at Mobile World Congress.
The l740 is being made in conjunction with Texas Instruments and is powered by a DLP Pico chipset, as used in standalone micro projectors that retail for around £300 at the moment.
It's unlikely to be that useful for anything but the most casual of presentations, and then only in a darkened room. However, it will include a bundle of applications including ones dealing with Powerpoints slides, the display of emails, their attachments and pictures. Just don't expect it to replace your home cinema projector.
It would be interesting to see how the I7410 stacks-up in the traditional terms of projectors- brightness and contrast. The standard Pico Pocket projector offers a 1000:1 contrast and up to a 60-inch image. We'll have to wait to see whether the I7410 will offer similar performance
It'll also include a 5-megapixel camera and built-in speakers.
