Alongside the new Windows for mobile phones 6.5 operating system, Microsoft is planning to roll-out a new web synchronisation service called My Phone Web.
It will allow you to keep an online store of everything in your Windows 6.5 phone, whether it's your text messages, photos, videos or music.
During the demonstration, the online cap was set at 200MB, but we were assured that this would be expandable.
Not only would My Phone Web mean that you wouldn't need to worry about having to delete SMS messages or photos when your phone fills up, it would also spell an end to having to constantly transfer files via Bluetooth, email or memory card between your phone and computer.
The interface for this service upon demonstration looked similar to the
Hotmail menu system, with an intuitive vertical text link menu bar for each media type.
From the phone's side, the service is customisable, allowing you to choose which sorts of files you'd like to synchronise using a simple radio button menu from within Windows for mobile phones 6.5.
The synchronisation happens automatically without interrupting anything else you might be doing on your phone, but there will presumably also be an option that makes synching manually.
We do not know as yet of any additional costs incurred by this service, but we'll inform you as soon as any updates become available.
