O2 has extended its XDA range by releasing a revamped HTC Advantage in the guise of the XDA Flint.

The Flint features a 5-inch VGA touch screen display, complete with detachable keyboard and comes powered by Windows Mobile 6.1.

Other features of the O2 XDA handset include:

  • 3-megapixel snapper
  • Wi-Fi
  • HSDPA
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • 16GB memory

The handset is aiming to digitise the classroom be it through allowing students to surf the web or touch type notes using the large touch screen or detachable keyboard.

You can also download and listen to ebooks on the generous 16GB internal memory as well as upload and download timetables and schedule homework reminders.

A spokesman for O2 told Tech Radar that “by synchronising and embedding the XDA Flint into the current ICT infrastructure we are able to help teachers deliver, manage and monitor personalised learning for each and every student.”

Whether or not the concept will take off as opposed to, say, a netbook or laptop remains to be seen but it certainly is one way to revive a largely already forgotten HTC Advantage.
