Microsoft has released its second iPhone app known simply as Tag Reader

Published on Jan 13, 2009

Microsoft has released its second app for the iPhone, called Tag Reader.

The purpose of Tag Reader is similar in theory (and practice) to QR codes that have been around for a little while now but have so far failed to engage consumers.

Tag Reader utilises the camera in a handset to scan Microsoft Tag Codes which consist of a four-colour pattern and provide quick links to multimedia content, games and web pages.

Currently Tag Reader is available for Blackberry, Symbian, J2ME and Windows Mobile powered handsets and if you have a Windows Live ID you even can create your own Tag Codes online.

You can download the free Tag Reader for iPhones via the iTunes marketplace.
