Nokia aims for Linux Maemo OS in range-topping handsets

Nokia is considering making Linux OS an alternative to Symbian for its high-end devices

Published on Dec 9, 2008

Nokia's vice president of markets has unveiled the company’s intention for range-heading devices to run on a Linux-based OS.

The software of choice is likely to be the Linux variant known as Maemo which can already be found on the Nokia N800 and N810 internet tablets.

With a a truckload of stable apps and full touchscreen support we think it will be highly unlikely that Nokia will be turning to Google’s Android OS anytime soon for its top-end handsets.
