Motorola takes measures to preserve exclusivity of the Aura

Rumours are rife that the Motorola Aura will be prohibited from being sold second hand

Published on Nov 4, 2008

It was only recently that we announced that the Motorola Aura is coming to the luxury mobile phone market, but the question now is - when you’ve had enough of the blinged out handset can you sell it as second hand?

This might seem a bit of a strange question at first, but rumours are flying around the internet that in a bid to retain exclusivity of the handset, Motorola is making prospective purchasers sign a contract stating that the phone won’t be resold on websites like eBay.

If the rumours turn out to be true the only option remaining for Aura owners will be to sell the handset back to Motorola, though the company as yet don't know how much of the $2000 purchase price they receive back or whether it will be reselling them itself at a later date.

Is this strange decision fact or fiction? We can’t say right now, but we’ll let you know as we find out more.
