Nokia has revealed two network-exclusive 3G HSDPA mobiles, the stylish 6650 GPS-equipped clamshell for T-Mobile, and the Vodafone-only 6124 classic
Nokia has unveiled two new 3G mobiles, the 6650 – a stylish stainless steel cased clamshell phone, with a GPS receiver inside – and the 6124 classic, a candybar Symbian S60 smartphone.
Both phones, which are high-speed HSDPA-enabled 3G models, are being released in exclusive deals with network operators; the 6650 is heading T-Mobile’s way in the third quarter of this year, while the 6124 classic is launching on Vodafone networks in the second quarter of 2008.
As well as supporting A-GPS location-finding technology and satellite navigation, the 6650 is geared up for multimedia and web-based services offered by T-Mobile. It features a 2-megapixel camera, media player with external dedicated music controls, fast web connectivity, and a large 2.2-inch 16 million-colour display to screen content. Some 30MB of internal memory is supplemented by a MicroSD card slot, and there’s an FM radio inside too.
The 6124 classic is a refreshed version of Nokia's 6120 classic, sporting a glossy new-look casing. It will be geared for a full suite of Vodafone 3G multimedia and web browsing services. It too has a 2-megapixel camera built in, with flash, and its display is a 2-inch 16 million-colour array.
It also boasts smartphone functionality, based on the Symbian S60 operating system and has the regular array of S60 features including a media player and full high-speed web browser. MicroSD cards up to 8GB are supported on this model for adding images, music and other content to the phone.
More details of both handsets will be available nearer to the release dates.
