Nokia blasts the N96 out of the way before launch with the N85

Nokia launches the N96-like N85 with OLED screen, N-Gage functionality, GPS and a 5-megapixel camera

Nokia has launched the follow-up to the N81 N-Gage handset with the N85 super-phone.
The handset looks exactly the same as the N81 and N96, but is packed with more features than it predecessors put together.
The N85 features a 2.6-inch OLED screen, a built-in FM transmitter so you can stream your tunes and calls through your car stereo, and a 5-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera with autofocus.
Unlike the N81, the N85 comes preloaded with 10 games, so you don't even have to pay to start playing.
Multimedia-wise, you can slide the screen two ways to access the keypad or music keys as on the N95 and yet-to-be released N96.
Naturally, there's also GPS onboard, with a three month license for voice navigation, but one vital missing feature is a chunky internal memory. Fair enough, the device comes with an 8GB memory card, but it would be nicer to have 8GB built in, with a memory card supporting SDHC cards to extend the capacity to 24GB. Let's hope the N85 8GB will follow on from this launch.
The Nokia N85 is due out in October 2008, and will be priced at a hefty £360 SIM free. Hopefully, it'll be snapped up by operators so we can all get it for free on contract!
