A judge in The Hague has just ruled that Samsung’s Galaxy S2, S and Ace impinge on Apple’s patent portfolio, which means the devices will be banned from market come October 13.

‘In an official press release,' says Engadget, ‘the court explains that The Hague judge ruled to ban trading of Samsung smartphones Galaxy S, S II and Ace, adding that Samsung also violated other Apple patents with its Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 10.1v, though it's not clear whether or not sales of those devices will be banned as well.’

This is very bad news for Samsung - and a massive result for Apple. Of course, the major victims of this action are the consumers who will now be denied access to Samsung’s market-leading products.

To be honest, we’re very surprised at this result. Of course Apple is clearly targeting Samsung, arguably the company’s biggest threat in the mobile sector at this time.

There’s been no comment officially from either Samsung or Apple, but we expect to hear something very soon. We’ll report back once we have more news and some comment from Samsung.
