BlackBerry Z10 vs Samsung Galaxy S3
We pitch Samsung's Galaxy S3 against the BlackBerry Z10 flagship
The BlackBerry Z10 is the latest smartphone from the company formerly known as RIM and now re-branded to BlackBerry.
It’s a touch-only smartphone with a larger screen, eschewing the traditional Qwerty keyboard and small touchscreen of BlackBerry models from days gone by.
The handset is one of two phones announced so far and the only one already actually on the market running BlackBerry’s new operating system: BlackBerry 10.
Samsung’s Galaxy S3 is a firm favourite with consumers as it has sold around 40 million units since its release in May 2012. It is the company’s most successful smartphone to date and has done a great deal to put Android on the map as one of the most prolific operating systems.
BlackBerry Z10: Key specs and what’s hot
The thing which most immediately hits you upon getting to grips with the BlackBerry Z10 is the build quality. It’s very rewarding to handle with an impeccable fit and finish alongside high-end materials. Visually, we have to say, it looks rather a lot like an iPhone, which may or may not float your boat.
The display is a standout feature, it’s slightly smaller than the Galaxy S3’s at 4.3-inches but for many this will be a more comfortable size and the higher 1280x768 pixel resolution also means you get a higher pixel density of 355 pixels-per-inch (ppi).
The fact that it’s LCD is also a plus point because unlike Samsung’s Super AMOLED pentile display it doesn’t suffer from the same slight fuzziness and issues with text clarity.
Samsung Galaxy S3: Key specs and what’s hot
The Galaxy S3 still has a lot going for it with a very fast Exynos quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and paired with a Mali-400MP GPU.
It also has a much broader range of storage options for 16GB and 32GB, each with microSD support for high-capacity cards up to 64GB (sadly the 64GB internal storage model went the way of the dinosaurs).
