BlackBerry reveals BBM on BlackBerry 10
BlackBerry Messenger for BlackBerry 10 has been demonstrated at the platform launch event
BlackBerry, formerly known as RIM, has just announced the new BlackBerry 10 operating system and with this it has demonstrated a new take on the popular BlackBerry Messenger service.
BlackBerry Messenger on BlackBerry 10 changes the BBM experience from real time chat to real time engagement.
In a BBM chat and press the video icon and you're in the video chat. It's essentially like Facetime for BlackBerrys and you can use the front-facing camera to see the person on the other end of the line.
BBM on BlackBerry 10 now features integrated video chat, much like Apple's 'Face Time' and the demonstration showed it to be virtually seamless to launch from the text chat mode.
Another key feature is screen-sharing, which allows you to share your BlackBerry handset's screen, apps and documents with another user, much as you can on a conventional PC.
It also includes books and pictures. For example if you've just come back from holiday, you can go through all your holiday shots in one screen.
Again, it's activated easily with a quick tap.
BlackBerry 10 was launched alongside the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10. The Q10 features a full Qwerty keyboard, while the Z10 is full touchscreen.
