iPad Mini to resemble iPod rather than iPad
Apple's 7.85-inch iPad Mini is said to be as thin as the 4th generation iPod Touch
The iPad Mini will be styled on the iPod Touch, with a 7.85-inch screen and thickness of 7.2mm.
According to a 'reliable Chinese source', the iPad Mini will be styled on the iPod Nano (3rd generation).
These claims were quoted on Japanese website Macotakara, which said 'It won't be like a slimmed down iPad, it will have an iPod nano-like (3rd generation) design. The look is pretty different.'
Apple will offer the iPad Mini in a number of different iterations - some with only Wi-Fi, others with Wi-Fi and 3G, and some with Wi-Fi and 4G.
Production of the iPad Mini will take place at Apple's new Brazilian manufacturing centre, rather than China's Foxconn factory. This will be the first full-scale manufacturing job for Apple's South American centre since its opening earlier in the year.
So far, rumours of the iPad Mini include:
- The iPad Mini will be released in October
- The Mini will cost around £150, taking on the Google Nexus 7
- The iPad Mini's screen will feature a 1024x768 pixel resolution display.
