iPad 3 officially announced with Retina display
The iPad 3 has been officially unveiled in San Francisco, featuring a 2048x1536 pixel screen
Apple has announced its new iPad with a Retina display screen.
The new screen features a 2048x1536 pixel resolution (that's 264ppi to you and me).
Phil Schiller, Senior VP of worldwide marketing Apple's demonstrated the stunning screen. Here are some of the quotes expressing his joy:
'Until you see it you can't understand how amazing it is.'
'To this day no-one has yet matched that display technology.'
'Photos are just going to look amazing on that gorgeous high-resolution display.'
Certainly looks good in comparison to the iPad 2 and iPhone. Slight nightmare for game developers though, as Ben discussed earlier.
Other features on the new iPad includes an ARM A5X processor with quad core graphics and a 5-megapixel iSight camera.
For those countries that support it, there's 4G LTE bundled in. This is specifically for AT&T customers (sorry UK).
Update: Verizon has also announce dit will ship the new iPad.
