Apple serves up iOS 6.1.1 update in record time
Apple’s iOS 6.1.1 update is now available for iPhone 4S
Apple’s iOS 6.1.1 update is now live and available exclusively for the iPhone 4S. With iOS 6.1 and most updates before it, Apple distributed to all iDevices in one go, apart from the iPhone 4’s antenna-gate debacle, of course.
Many networks, including Vodafone, advised iPhone 4S users not to update to iOS 6.1, citing issues with 3G connectivity and general reliability.
iOS 6.1.1 is tasked with fixing connectivity issues which have been affecting iPhone 4S handsets. The update comes just 15 days after the launch of iOS 6.1.
In an official statement, Apple said the update ‘fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S.’
Many iPhone users took to Twitter to vent their frustrations over iOS 6.1’s negative affect on their beloved iPhone 4S handsets. Know Your Mobile received a whole heap of emails from concerned iPhone 4S users, claiming iOS 6.1 had ruined their iPhone’s battery life.
Apple has yet to confirm whether there is a problem affecting the battery life of some of its iPhone devices. iOS 6.1.1 is not designed to fix issues affecting the iPhone’s battery, at least according to Apple’s statement.
That said many users have taken to Twitter to proclaim that iOS 6.1.1 has fixed their iPhone’s battery problems.
Without testing the update we cannot confirm these claims, however.
iOS 6.1.1 is available for download either Over The Air (OTA) or via iTunes. As stated earlier, this update is only available for the iPhone 4S. Update your iPhone 4S by going to Settings>General>Software Update.
Apple, of course, was unavailable for comment.
